I know. I know. It’s been a looonnngggg time. Bet you think I forgot about this measly little blog. Fortunately (or maybe unfortunately) I didn’t. I’ve just been a bit busy. Teaching English at a summer camp, friends visiting, and the hubby having a minor operation have kept me more than occupied. But now it’s August and that means vacation here in Spain!
(Dang…now it’s actually the end of September and I am just now posting this!)
So here’s a photo update of what I’ve been up to lately.
It started with my 30th birthday. Yikes! When did I turn 30?!?! I feel like I was just turning 21.
And then a perfectly sunny day in Andoain playing golf and having lunch.
We then spent a gorgeous Sunday in St Jean Pied de Port, France with friends visiting from the States and Norway. It was a great opportunity to get out of Irun for the day and spend it exploring a different side of The Basque Country. This day will forever stick out in my mind as one of those perfect days eating, drinking, laughing, swimming and catching up.
During July, the hubby and I had a much needed weekend getaway to the La Rioja wine region. I had been working at a summer camp and had hardly seen or talked to my hubby in two weeks so it was just what we needed to reconnect and enjoy each other’s company. I love La Rioja and it is especially beautiful in the summer when all the vineyards are in full bloom. And it’s the perfect excuse to drink good wine and eat good food (not like I need an excuse!).
As the summer was coming to a close and before I had to really head back to work, we spent an afternoon cooling off from the sweltering heat at some “pozos.” The dictionary translation for pozo is “well” but it’s not exactly that. They are parts in a river where the water is deeper, some even deep enough to go swimming. It was a beautiful day spent lounging in the sun working on my tan.
And now fall is officially here and I officially start classes next week (although I’ve been working all summer). I’m really looking forward to so many things these next couple months but especially can’t wait for my parent’s visit in November!
What was the highlight of your summer? Any exciting plans for fall yet?
